Terms & conditions

Terms of service for Somatica Massage

These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between you (“the client”) and Somatica Massage regarding bookings, treatments, payments, cancellations and use of this website.

Last updated: November 2025 By booking or attending a session, you agree to these terms.
In short:
  • Appointments are offered for professional therapeutic massage only.
  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate health information so treatment can be delivered safely.

1. About Somatica Massage

Somatica Massage is a professional massage practice based in Bradninch, Exeter, Devon, UK and operated by Alice. Treatments follow recognised professional standards and are intended to complement, not replace, appropriate medical care.

2. Scope of these terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to all appointments, email or phone enquiries, gift vouchers, and use of the Somatica Massage website. Additional written agreements may apply to specific services; where there is a conflict, those will take priority.

3. Bookings & appointments

3.1 Booking process

Appointments can be made via the online booking system, by email or by phone where available. Your booking is confirmed once you receive a confirmation email.

3.2 Health information

You agree to provide complete and accurate information about your health, medications, injuries and relevant medical history. This allows the therapist to assess whether massage is appropriate and to adapt treatment safely.

3.3 Suitability for treatment

In some circumstances massage may be unsuitable or require medical clearance. The therapist reserves the right to postpone, modify or decline treatment where it is considered unsafe or not in your best interests.

3.4 Age requirements

Clients under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present or provide written consent before treatment can go ahead.

4. Cancellations, rescheduling & lateness

4.1 Cancellation policy

At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged up to the full session fee.

4.2 Missed appointments (“no-shows”)

If you do not attend your appointment and do not provide notice, the full fee may be charged.

4.3 Late arrival

If you arrive late, your session may still need to finish at the scheduled time to avoid affecting other clients. The full fee is payable.

5. Payments, pricing & vouchers

Current prices are displayed on the website or booking system and may be updated from time to time.

  • Payment is due before or at the time of the appointment unless agreed otherwise in writing.
  • Refunds are not normally offered once a session has taken place.
  • Gift vouchers are non-refundable, have an expiry date and may be transferable to another person.

If a pricing error occurs, Somatica Massage reserves the right to correct it and will discuss any changes with you before the session proceeds.

6. Client conduct & boundaries

Somatica Massage provides professional, non-sexual therapeutic massage. You agree to:

  • Behave respectfully towards the therapist and the premises;
  • Maintain good personal hygiene and arrive in a fit state for treatment;
  • Respect all boundaries explained before or during the session;
  • Inform the therapist immediately if you feel uncomfortable or wish to stop.

Any sexual, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour will result in the session being stopped immediately and may lead to refusal of future appointments. The full fee will still apply.

7. Therapist rights & refusal of treatment

The therapist may decline, postpone or discontinue treatment if:

  • Massage is considered unsafe or inappropriate for your health condition;
  • You are under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs;
  • Your behaviour is threatening, disrespectful or breaches professional boundaries;
  • Required health or consent forms are not completed.

8. Health, medical advice & liability

Massage can support wellbeing but is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. You should consult your GP or another appropriate health professional for medical concerns.

While reasonable care is taken at all times, Somatica Massage is not liable for:

  • Adverse effects where relevant health information was withheld or inaccurate;
  • Outcomes resulting from not following aftercare advice;
  • Loss or damage to personal belongings brought to the premises.
